The Conservancy offers traveling educational programs for schools, community groups and local organizations. Outreach programs are designed to help connect people to the natural world and can be adjusted meet your needs. Program sessions typically range from 45-55 minutes and work best with groups of 60 or less. Please view the flyer for additional program details including curriculum alignment.
Outreach Programs Offered:
Owl Program: All ages
Meet the Conservancy’s non- releasable Barred Owl, Ranger! During the program, participants learn about the unique features and adaptations, hunting techniques and the habitat requirements of owls. $200 for two 45-minute sessions.
Mapping Maryland Program: Grades 3-4 An interactive program using our 14.4′ x 21′ Maryland map. Program covers the geographical history of Maryland, mapping, environmental resources, human impact on the land and more! $150/session
Biodiversity Schoolyard Program: Grade 5
This program is designed to help students complete the Biodiversity portion of the Schoolyard Environmental Report Card. The program will consist of multiple stations focused on categories of biodiversity being observed. Students will switch between stations to gain an understanding of the interconnectedness of the species found in their schoolyard.
*One class per session (sessions are 1 hour in length).
$300/ two 45 min. sessions
Giant Map of Maryland Rental:
$35 for 2 weeks if picked up at Howard County Conservancy
$45 for 2 weeks includes rental and delivery to any school within a 5 mile radius of the Conservancy at either or Woodstock or Belmont location Rental Includes: Giant Map of MD (14.4′ x 21′), 5 interactive activities & materials *The lesson bin is available on a first come, first serve basis and is rented for two weeks at a time. Payment and rental agreement required.
