Wagon Shed

Wagons could enter and deposit corn directly into the crib through the elevated doors on the east and south walls. The foundation elevated the corn crib to help prevent rodent infestation. When comparing the corn crib and the wagon shed you will see many similar features. The two “wings” where the roof extends beyond the central structure add the distinctive feature that allowed two wagons to pull up under cover and unload their material. Few properties with historic farmstead buildings like this remain open to the public in Maryland.
