After our flood on Christmas Eve, damage to our nature center was extensive. Initial estimates gauge repairs will cost more than $400,000, plus the loss of income from cancelled programs and events. Insurance will cover much of the construction, and donations are helping us return to serving the community as soon as possible. Work began immediately to dry out the building and remove damaged floors and ceilings. Construction on the building is expected to begin in the next few weeks, and we hope to have portions of the building open in about two months. In the meantime, our trails remain open and a portable toilet is available in the parking lot. We are beyond grateful for our community, which came together with donations of volunteer labor and funds to aid our recovery from this disaster.
Repairs have begun. We hope to have our building open by spring.
