Meet the
Earth Trekkers, a family of four that share a passion for travel, adventure and living life to the fullest. In 2014 and 2015 they sold their house and cars, took their kids out of school and put their careers on hold in order to travel around the world for 13 months. But their love for travel and exploring didn’t stop there, they still travel ever chance they get, having explored 67 countries. They operate one of the most popular family adventure travel blogs on the internet.
Hiking and enjoying the great outdoors is one of their favorite things to do while traveling. With outdoor adventures in the US, South America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania they have many stories to share and advice to offer on how to plan your own epic adventures. Join us as they share their experiences and perhaps inspire you to become an Earth Trekker too!
Tim:
Sherpa of the family, Tim is a four time Ironman Triathlete and prior Division 1 Hurdler for the University of Maryland, where he studied Aerospace Engineering. To be able to take a career break and spend one year of quality time with his family, was the best gift he could have ever given himself. Topping the list of his favorite experiences, Tim loved the trek to Everest Base Camp…11 days filled with adventure, awe inspiring views, and some of the most challenging conditions we have ever faced, standing at Everest Base Camp was one of the most rewarding moments of our travels.
Julie:
A prior Physician Assistant in orthopedic surgery, Julie now devotes all of her time running their website. She is a two time Ironman Triathlete, fitness fanatic, and the author and photographer for their blog. Working on the blog has become her obsession. What started as a way to keep friends and family updated during their year around the world, has quickly grown to educating and inspiring the world to live out their own travel dreams.
Tyler:
A sophomore in high school and member of the school’s Cross Country and Track teams, Tyler is also our drone pilot and YouTube video producer. He is currently learning Spanish and taught himself enough Mandarin to get us through some rural areas of China. A year out in the world opened his eyes to new experiences, where he embraced thrill seeking activities, such as bungee jumping in New Zealand and shark cage diving in South Africa.
Kara:
A freshman in high school and member of the school’s Cross Country and Track teams, Kara loves art, learning Spanish, and taking care of her Bearded Dragon named Apollo. Being naturally adventurous and open to new experiences, her favorite travel moments include animal encounters along the Garden Route of South Africa, surfing in Fiji, and traveling through New Zealand and Australia.
